prayer for pregnant women
Pregnancy is a time of great excitement, joy and anticipation, often mixed with apprehension and anxiety over giving birth and the difficulties involved in carrying another person for nine months! Featured below are two prayers to help expectant mothers. One is a short prayer for a mother to pray for her baby boy or girl, another can be prayed by the father (or supporter) whilst the baby is being delivered. Further down on this page are several bible verses that remind us of God's protection during pregnancy and labour, and there is also a film with the ancient celtic blessing "May The Road Rise Up To Meet You". Prayer for a pregnant mother
May you watch my sleep as I carry this baby.
May your hand be upon this little life as it develops in my womb.
May you fill our hearts with joy, and our bodies with peace.
May we feel you so close to us as we sense your amazing creativity at work.
We rest in you.
Prayer for a woman in labour
Send your angels to keep guard as labour begins, Lord comfort and protect us all.
Surround us with your hope and goodness.
Hold us through each wave of delivery.
Give to us a perfect life.
Come hold us safely within your promises, now and forever.
"May The Road Rise Up To Meet You" is an ancient celtic prayer for protection and blessing. Here is a contemporary song version from prayerscapes that you can use as a meditation or prayer for the mother and unborn child:-
"I ask for your Almighty hand to hold and keep us as we carry this precious gift"
"I will be with you always, even until the end of the world."
(Matthew 28:20b, CEV)
"Do not be afraid-I am with you!
I am your God-let nothing terrify you!
I will make you strong and help you;
I will protect you and save you."
(Isaiah 41:10, NIV)
""Whoever goes to the Lord for safety, whoever remains under the protection of the Almighty, can say to him, "You are my defender and protector. You are my God; in you I trust.""
(Psalm 91:1-2, GNT)
