prayer for fear & anxiety

Sometimes the anxiety surrounding an impending appointment or the fear of something (such as flying or surgery) can feel overwhelming. This page offers two prayers to help calm these worries and find God's peace and presence within difficult or challenging situations.

Prayer against fear

Almighty God,

Beneath your wings
Filled with light
I have no fear.
Wading through truth
Clean and bright
I have no fear.

Dwelling in love
Safe at night
I have no fear.
Soaking in your hope
Eternity sings
I have no fear.

Amen.

Prayer for fear and anxiety
(a prayer to calm common fears e.g. driving, surgery, fear of losing your job etc.)

O Lord, scripture tells me "have no fear"
And I want to hear and say yes!
But as life threads its way,
And my circumstances change
I confess that I'm feeling so stressed.

O Lord, may I cling to the promise you give,
Of a peace that surpasses it all.
Come calm this troubled heart
May I never depart,
From you Lord, whatever befalls.

O Lord, I am never alone,
My Shepherd, my Father, my King.
So I'll walk in your way,
and promise each day
To live in the freedom you bring.

Amen.

prayer for peace of mind

a simple prayer to help find God's peace during troubled times:-

"Eternity sings...I have no fear"

bible verses about anxiety and God's peace

"That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life-whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn't life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don't plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren't you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?"

(Matthew 6:25-27, NLT)

"I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit."

(Romans 15:13, NLT)
